It is our great pleasure to inform you that the 14th International Congress on Plasma Physics (ICPP2008) will be held in Fukuoka, the central city in Kyushu Area, Japan, during September 8-12, 2008. The year 2008 is marked by a brilliant history of plasma physics spanning 50 years since Geneva Conference in 1958 and the dawn of space observations.
The International Congress* on Plasma Physics was first held in Nagoya in 1980, as the combination of the 4th International Congress on Waves and Instabilities in Plasmas and 4th Kiev International Conference on Plasma Theory, and followed by the Congresses: Gothenburg (1982), Lausanne (1984), Kiev (1987), New Delhi (1989), Innsbruck (1992), Foz do Iguacu (1994), Nagoya (1996), Prague (1998), Quebec City (2000), Sydney (2002), Nice (2004), and Kiev (2006).
The scope of the Congress is to discuss about the recent progress and future view on plasma science, covering wide range of the aspects on fundamental plasma physics, fusion plasmas, astrophysical plasmas, and plasma applications, and so forth.
The year of 2008 would correspond to about fifty years memorial after starting the plasma physics, space, and fusion
research activities in the world. In this occasion, the active contributions and participations to this “ICPP2008” by many scientists and engineers would be highly welcome and appreciated.
* From the 11th one (2002), the expression has been modified from “Conference” to “Congress”.
